Blast Heroes (demo)
A downloadable game for Windows
What is this?
Blast Heroes is a mix of pool, brick breaker and puzzle bubble with very light rpg elements and a fantasy vibe.
- Shoot Hero Balls onto a board where they bounce against Enemy Blocks
- When a Ball hits an Enemy they both take damage
- Balls can bounce their way back to the Cannon, in which case they can be shot again
- Balls can also bounce against each other creating chain reactions and chaos!
- When all the Balls have stopped moving or are out of Stamina, the turn ends and they all return to the Cannon
- Each Ball can use passive Skills (such as causing AoE damage on bounce, healing the Ball it bounces against, and so on)
- The goal of each room is to defeat all enemies
This is a more complete version of the concept for the first prototype I put up a few months ago. It addresses most of the feedback I received, along with offering more content and features.
New Features
- Navigate a world map and select a level set to play
- Survive through a series of rooms in a row to clear the set and advance to the next
- Manage your party, reorder your Heroes and unlock new ones
- Equip them with Rings, which give your Heroes new passive skills
- Enemies take action with different attacks and effects between shots!
Additions and changes based on the first prototype
- A bunch of new enemy types and environments
- More polished visuals and gameplay (bugs may still occur)
- Sound effects for many (but not all) events
- Mouse aim and precise cannon controls
- Limited number of turns to complete each room
Don't expect balanced difficulty. I did playtest each level but testing every possible combination of party members and skills would take a looong time. Same for the turn limitation, each level should be very easy to finish in a few turns. Consider this more of a showcase of the systems.
While I had a lot of fun working on this new demo, programming the new Skill system and such, I still can't tell if the game is actually fun so I'm not sure if I wil continue development. With that said, I would really appreciate feedback.
